4 AP Top 25 Teams Have Some Proving to Do--Missouri, Texas Tech, South Flordia and Kansas

Four of the AP Top 25 Poll squads in college football's 5th hebdomad have got some proving to make to warrant their national ranking. Show Me State is ranked 4th in the current AP Top 25 Poll, Lone-Star State Technical School 7th, South Sunshine State 10th and Sunflower State 16th. These four ranked squads necessitate to play better competition and win. That includes South Florida's narrow triumph at place over Kansas, 37-34.

Let's start with South Florida, which is rated 119th in agenda stamina by Sagarin among the 119 schools in Division 1-A or, as the NCAA foremen like to say, the Football Bowl Subdivision.

The norm agenda stamina of the five oppositions South Sunshine State have already played bes the worst Division 1-A school in college football. The Bulls have got beaten 1-AA Volunteer State St Martin 56-7 (ranked 170th by Sagarin in quality among 242 Division 1-A and 1-AA schools with football game programs), Central Sunshine State 31-24 in overtime (ranked 124th in quality), Sunflower State 37-34 (ranked 42nd), Sunshine State International 17-9 (ranked 108th) and North Carolina State 41-10 (ranked 100th).

Do not mistake Sagarin's evaluation for agenda stamina with his commanding for quality squad performance. Said another way, Sunflower State is the 42nd best squad in the state right now, North Carolina State is the 100th best, Sunshine State International is 108th, Central Sunshine State is 124th and Volunteer State St Martin is 170th.

Four of the 5 squads South Sunshine State have beaten are ranked 100th or worse by Sagarin. The facts don't exaggerate, and Sagarin's ratings, unlike the AP Top 25 Poll, are based on existent game consequences pitted against one another. The Bulls are unbeaten at 5-0 but host Pittsburgh this Saturday. Let's see if Dave Wannstedt can acquire his William Pitt Panthers over the bulge and beat out South Florida.

Missouri is really out in left field wall hanging on the subdivision of a tree. The Tigers charge per unit 142nd in agenda toughness, the worst of these four squads that could be overrated and headed for a nosedive in the AP Poll.

Missouri's intoxicating 4-0 grade have come up at the disbursal of Prairie State 52-42 (ranked 61st in quality by Sagarin), 1-AA Southeast Show Me State State 52-3 (ranked 211th), Silver State 69-17 (ranked 67th) and American Bison 42-21 (ranked 93rd). The fact that the Tigers have got outscored their oppositions 215-83 still makes not impress. They gave up 42 points to Illinois, their best opposition yet.

Illinois was in the AP Top 25 the first four hebdomads of the season, rising to No. 22. Two hebdomads ago I was all over the Fight Illini's case, saying they should not even be among the Top 25. Last hebdomad they visited William Penn State at Happy Valley and establish out just how good they are not.

Illinois was kicked out of the Top 25 this week, and Show Me State may have got a free autumn in the Top 25 as the diddling around volition halt with the Tigers' adjacent four opponents-Nebraska, Sooner State State, Lone-Star State and Colorado.

Texas Technical School is unbeaten at 4-0 but is rated 129th in agenda stamina by Sagarin. The Red Raiders are hanging with Show Me State on the other subdivision of the same tree. Lone-Star State Technical School have wins over 1-AA Eastern American Capital 49-24 (ranked 98th by Sagarin), Silver State 35-19 (ranked 67th), Southern Methodist 43-7 (ranked 148th) and 1-AA Bay State 56-14 (ranked 113th).

This is the Red Raiders' wake-up call for the adjacent 7 weeks-Kansas State, Nebraska, Lone-Star State A&M, Kansas, Texas, Sooner State State and Oklahoma. Let's see if Lone-Star State Technical School strike hards off these 7 oppositions and ends up at 11-0 on the season with pushover Baylor as its last opponent. If you believe Lone-Star State Technical School is about to drop in the AP Top 25 your are right.

Kansas is the last of the four Top ranked squads with some serious proving to do. The Jayhawks are rated 101st in agenda toughness. Kansas, you will recall, lost to South Sunshine State 37-34 in an away game. The Jayhawks' wins have got come up against Sunshine State International 40-10 (ranked 108th by Sagarin), Pelican State Technical School 29-0 (ranked 107th), and 1-AA Surface-To-Air Missile Houston State 38-14 (ranked 127th).

After adjacent week, Sunflower State will be looking across the line at Colorado, Oklahoma, Lone-Star State Tech, Sunflower State State, Nebraska, Lone-Star State and Missouri. It is really dubious that Sunflower State will stop its regular season at 11-1.

It is not likely that Sunflower State will travel 11-1 since the Big 12 squads will be playing each other very soon. Five Big 12 squads are ranked in the AP Top 25 with 4-0 records-Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas, Lone-Star State Technical School and Sooner State State. They had better bask their unbeaten records while they can.

While not appearing so, Show Me State and Lone-Star State Technical School may be the weakest of the five unbeaten teams. Time will tell, and Sargarin will enter the consequences for all to see.

College Football - So Who Are the Current Worst Players in Division 1-A Football in the Nation?

There is some good news for the 10 worst Sagarin-ranked Division 1-A squads in the nation-they are not the worst squad in the nation.

When we present the question, "So who are the current worst participants in Division I-A football game in the nation?", Army (ranked 190th among 119 Division 1-A teams), Gem State (180th), Eastern Wolverine State (171st), North Lone-Star State (152nd), Southern Methodist (148th), Kent State (145th), Alabama-Birmingham (140th), Louisiana-Monroe (138th) and American Capital State (136th) can all take a breath a suspiration of relief. The limelight will not be on them.

There are actually 31 other squads (too numerous and irrelevant to advert here) ranked less than the current worst squad in 1-A football.

The worst squad after college football's 5th hebdomad is ranked 90th by Sagarin, and is none other than the University of American Capital Huskies.

This is not an idle appellation or light-minded comment, the American Capital Huskies have got earned this doubtful differentiation based on their non-performance on the field of battle.

Among other considerations that measure up American Capital as currently the worst 1-A squad in the state are these irrefutable facts:

1) American Capital is the lone winless Bowl Championship Series squad in the country.

2) American Capital is the lone winless squad from a major conference, and is only 1 of 3 winless squads among the 119 schools in the NCAA's Bowl Subdivision (called Division 1-A by normal people left over from earlier generations). North Lone-Star State (0-4) and Army (0-4), both mentioned earlier, are the other winless teams.

3) American Capital have zero (zip, nada) signal caller pokes this season, and ranks last among 119 squads in signal caller pokes nationally. Apparently the Eskimo Dog guardians make not cognize who to undertake when, or are not able to progress far adequate on defence to acquire the occupation done.

4) Washington's defence ranks dead last in undertakes for loss. They have got 13 in Five games and every other squad have more.

5) American Capital ranks 118th among 119 squads in entire defence (yards given up).

6) American Capital ranks 114th among 119 squads in scoring defense.

7) American Capital ranks 116th among 119 squads in rushing defense.

8) American Capital ranks 119th among 119 squads in base on balls efficiency defense.

9) Stanford, the Huskies last opposition and last place game opponent, came in averaging 272 paces of discourtesy and walked out of Eskimo Dog Stadium with a 35-28 win and 466 paces of offense.

The new Eskimo Dog defensive attitude attitude coordinator this twelvemonth is Erectile Dysfunction Donatell, a former successful defensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers and Capital Of Georgia Falcons in the NFL. This should give you some thought of the current deficiency of defensive endowment at the University of Washington. Last twelvemonth Washington's defensive secondary could not cover my grandmother. Apparently this year's version of a secondary is even less capable.

Jake Locker, Washington' top offense threat, broke the first metacarpal bone of the right pollex on his throwing hand, so modesty redshirt fresher signal caller Ronnie Fouch will take over. Fouch's stands-in will be walk-on redshirt fresher Deems Taylor Bean and true fresher Martin Luther Leonard. If American Capital had no bad news, they would have got got no news at all.

On the bright side, the American Capital Huskies have played the toughest agenda among all 245 Division 1-A and 1-AA schools, according to the Sagarin's ratings. Some initiates thought that if Huskies did not beat out Leland Stanford when they had the chance, they might not acquire a win all year. They just might be right.

It looks like it is going to take some serious growth up and playing up for the Huskies to make anything except diddly-squat.

College Football - Michigan State Got the Message in an Away Game - Just Win, Baby, Just Win

Most football game teams, even poor ones, can play like a victor at place even if they have got not won on the route in two years. So when a Big 10 rival wins on the road, you have got to make a dual return and wonder, how far could they progress toward a major bowl game?

This pretty well depicts Wolverine State State's recent (9-27-08) 42-29 triumph on the route against the Hoosier State Hoosiers. The Spartans won the first one-half 27-22 and won the 2nd one-half 15-7. They scored in every one-fourth and close out Hoosier State in the 4th quarter.

Michigan State faced some hardship and overcame it. Late in the 3rd one-fourth Hoosier State came up with a 97-yard touchdown base on balls that appeared to set the Hoosiers in the lead, but their right guard was called for holding in the end zone, giving the Spartans a safety and a 36-29 lead.

After adding a couple of 4th one-fourth field ends by Brett Swenson, MSU left with a well-earned 42-29 route win. Give some props to Swenson, who successfully kicked 4 field ends from 45, 48, 45 and 32 yards. An accurate long kicker is critical to success in major bowl games.

In a game that was not decided at the end of the 3rd quarter, there were 2 safeties, a blocked Irish pound and 3 rematch reviews. None of it mattered as much as the Spartans 4th sequent triumph with star running play back Javon Toller averaging 204 paces rushing in the 4 wins.

Ringer had so much running success coming in that Hoosier State sought to restrict his yardage, forcing him to transport the ball 44 modern times for 198 yards. You could hardly name that containment. When it really mattered in the last quarter, it was Toller running play clip after time, eating up the clock and preserving the border of victory.

Ringer also scored another rushing touchdown and now have 12. He goes on to take the state in rushing TDs.

Brian Hoyer had some dropped bases on balls by receiving systems (one of which was an easy touchdown), but still ended up going 14-of-26 for 261 yards, including an 82-yard scoring base on balls to Charlie Gantt. Hoyer also scored a rushing TD on a 1-yard plunge.

Indiana did Pb the game 7-6 at one point, but was no lucifer for the Spartans when pushing came to shove.

Next up for Wolverine State State is a homecoming game against Ioway on Saturday.

The Spartans, now 4-1, have got got not broken into the AP Top 25 Poll but have moved up to 27th topographic point with lone Old Line State and 25th topographic point Aftermath Forest between them and the 25th spot. Should they beat out Ioway and Northwestern the adjacent two weeks, their opportunities of making the Top 25 are excellent.

Michigan State fans are just beginning to see what a great hire caput manager Mark Dantonio have been. Like Uncle Tom Izzo in basketball game and Walt Drenth in cross-country and path & field, Dantonio is a victor who can take the Spartans to a national championship. Preps in Wolverine State are beginning to believe of Wolverine State State first now rather than the Wolverine State Wolverines.
