4 AP Top 25 Teams Have Some Proving to Do--Missouri, Texas Tech, South Flordia and Kansas
Four of the AP Top 25 Poll squads in college football's 5th hebdomad have got some proving to make to warrant their national ranking. Show Me State is ranked 4th in the current AP Top 25 Poll, Lone-Star State Technical School 7th, South Sunshine State 10th and Sunflower State 16th. These four ranked squads necessitate to play better competition and win. That includes South Florida's narrow triumph at place over Kansas, 37-34.
Let's start with South Florida, which is rated 119th in agenda stamina by Sagarin among the 119 schools in Division 1-A or, as the NCAA foremen like to say, the Football Bowl Subdivision.
The norm agenda stamina of the five oppositions South Sunshine State have already played bes the worst Division 1-A school in college football. The Bulls have got beaten 1-AA Volunteer State St Martin 56-7 (ranked 170th by Sagarin in quality among 242 Division 1-A and 1-AA schools with football game programs), Central Sunshine State 31-24 in overtime (ranked 124th in quality), Sunflower State 37-34 (ranked 42nd), Sunshine State International 17-9 (ranked 108th) and North Carolina State 41-10 (ranked 100th).
Do not mistake Sagarin's evaluation for agenda stamina with his commanding for quality squad performance. Said another way, Sunflower State is the 42nd best squad in the state right now, North Carolina State is the 100th best, Sunshine State International is 108th, Central Sunshine State is 124th and Volunteer State St Martin is 170th.
Four of the 5 squads South Sunshine State have beaten are ranked 100th or worse by Sagarin. The facts don't exaggerate, and Sagarin's ratings, unlike the AP Top 25 Poll, are based on existent game consequences pitted against one another. The Bulls are unbeaten at 5-0 but host Pittsburgh this Saturday. Let's see if Dave Wannstedt can acquire his William Pitt Panthers over the bulge and beat out South Florida.
Missouri is really out in left field wall hanging on the subdivision of a tree. The Tigers charge per unit 142nd in agenda toughness, the worst of these four squads that could be overrated and headed for a nosedive in the AP Poll.
Missouri's intoxicating 4-0 grade have come up at the disbursal of Prairie State 52-42 (ranked 61st in quality by Sagarin), 1-AA Southeast Show Me State State 52-3 (ranked 211th), Silver State 69-17 (ranked 67th) and American Bison 42-21 (ranked 93rd). The fact that the Tigers have got outscored their oppositions 215-83 still makes not impress. They gave up 42 points to Illinois, their best opposition yet.
Illinois was in the AP Top 25 the first four hebdomads of the season, rising to No. 22. Two hebdomads ago I was all over the Fight Illini's case, saying they should not even be among the Top 25. Last hebdomad they visited William Penn State at Happy Valley and establish out just how good they are not.
Illinois was kicked out of the Top 25 this week, and Show Me State may have got a free autumn in the Top 25 as the diddling around volition halt with the Tigers' adjacent four opponents-Nebraska, Sooner State State, Lone-Star State and Colorado.
Texas Technical School is unbeaten at 4-0 but is rated 129th in agenda stamina by Sagarin. The Red Raiders are hanging with Show Me State on the other subdivision of the same tree. Lone-Star State Technical School have wins over 1-AA Eastern American Capital 49-24 (ranked 98th by Sagarin), Silver State 35-19 (ranked 67th), Southern Methodist 43-7 (ranked 148th) and 1-AA Bay State 56-14 (ranked 113th).
This is the Red Raiders' wake-up call for the adjacent 7 weeks-Kansas State, Nebraska, Lone-Star State A&M, Kansas, Texas, Sooner State State and Oklahoma. Let's see if Lone-Star State Technical School strike hards off these 7 oppositions and ends up at 11-0 on the season with pushover Baylor as its last opponent. If you believe Lone-Star State Technical School is about to drop in the AP Top 25 your are right.
Kansas is the last of the four Top ranked squads with some serious proving to do. The Jayhawks are rated 101st in agenda toughness. Kansas, you will recall, lost to South Sunshine State 37-34 in an away game. The Jayhawks' wins have got come up against Sunshine State International 40-10 (ranked 108th by Sagarin), Pelican State Technical School 29-0 (ranked 107th), and 1-AA Surface-To-Air Missile Houston State 38-14 (ranked 127th).
After adjacent week, Sunflower State will be looking across the line at Colorado, Oklahoma, Lone-Star State Tech, Sunflower State State, Nebraska, Lone-Star State and Missouri. It is really dubious that Sunflower State will stop its regular season at 11-1.
It is not likely that Sunflower State will travel 11-1 since the Big 12 squads will be playing each other very soon. Five Big 12 squads are ranked in the AP Top 25 with 4-0 records-Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas, Lone-Star State Technical School and Sooner State State. They had better bask their unbeaten records while they can.
While not appearing so, Show Me State and Lone-Star State Technical School may be the weakest of the five unbeaten teams. Time will tell, and Sargarin will enter the consequences for all to see.
